This system has been tested for the reduction of the substances listed in the product test data sheets. The concentration of the indicated substances in water entering the system was reduced to a concentration less than equal to the permissible limit for water leaving the system, as specified in NSF/ANSI 53. Minimum substance reductions are listed on the provided test data sheets for testing up to 200 gallons.

This filter must be operated according to the system’s specifications to deliver the claimed performance and there is still the potential given the quality of your water that your filters will clog sooner than anticipated. It is essential to follow operational, maintenance, and filter replacement requirements as directed for each application for this filter and system to perform correctly. Read the Manufacturer’s Performance Data Sheet accompanying the system and change the filter as suggested. The contaminants or other substances removed or reduced by this water filter are not necessarily in all users’ water.

The exterior of each stainless steel chamber is easy to keep clean: simply dust with a soft cloth. Prior to first use, rinse the interior of each chamber with cool, clean water.
Mineral content in untreated water may cause mineral buildup along the hybrid ceramic shell protecting your filter. This does not impact the water filtration process or water quality, you can clean the filter’s exterior if desired.
Exercise special care when removing the filter from the upper chamber. Scrub the filter’s exterior with a scour pad and clean water—without soap—then rinse thoroughly and replace in the upper chamber.

Water from lakes, rivers and wells can have biological material in them which is why filters for these purposes must have specific capabilities. The capability you’re asking for is the capacity to remove biological material which this filter does. Berkey is going through a tough time right now and having all sorts of issues with supply. Alexapure is operating efficiently with available products and deliveries.
Alexapure has solved an important design issue that we consider a flaw with the Berkey. Alexapure filters sit above your filtered water while Berkey filters sit in the filtered water (this refers to their system for fluoride). Sitting in the filtered water can leech the toxins that were removed right back into the water it was removed from.
Alexapure is our choice for a gravity fed, counter top water filter. We particularly like it because it was ACTUALLY laboratory tested with 200 gallons of water and it reduces or removes tough to remove toxins like chlorine.
