What Doctors are Saying About Structured Water

Not that long ago, it was rare to see the term “structured water” or hear about the health benefits of structured water. But what is structured water and what are the health benefits of drinking structured water?

Forward-thinking medical doctors, scientists and thought leaders are actively engaging in conversations about the healthiest water to drink, structured water, also known as H3O2, energized water.

What is Structured Water?

Simply put, structured water is water that is in its most pure and natural form, like a snowflake. Snowflakes happen when water vapor travels through the air, condense on a particle and transform into symmetrical, crystalline structures. The only time we can see those symmetrical shapes with our naked eye is when we see snowflakes. However, as experiments by the late, Dr. Masuro Emoto showed, under a microscope, frozen water appears in those same perfect snowflake shapes. As you might imagine, water that is polluted or contaminated appears in distorted patterns when it’s magnified. And this is what’s at the heart of the discussion about structured water. The health benefits of structured water are not as much about the volume of the water that you drink, but the energetic state of the water. And a constantly growing number of research studies have documented the health benefits of structured water. Proper hydration is becoming a common topic as a first intervention against chronic headaches, depression, weight gain, fatigue, insomnia, auto-immune disorders, gut pain, blood pressure and heart disease.

You might have heard structured water referred to as H3O2, vortexed water, hexagonal water, magnetized water or gemstone water. All these terms essentially mean the same thing, the water has been put through some kind of process to restore it to it’s purer form.

And you may wonder why you haven’t heard much about structured water, if it’s the solution for a wide variety of health problems. Chronic, low-grade dehydration is a consistently overlooked public health epidemic in the United States. Your doctor or health care practitioner should look at your blood hydration level before they make any judgements about your blood markers. Why? If you’re not properly hydrated when you get a blood test, all of your numbers will be skewed.

The Syndrome of Treating the Symptom, Not the Cause

Doctors that are pressed for time and have pressure to come up with treatment plans fast, frequently overlook the most obvious problem and the simplest solution, better hydration. Consequently they can get distracted by blood markers that may appear alarming and start the cycle of treating the symptom, and not the cause of the problem. You might be doing everything right, eating organic food, exercising, meditating, but if your cells are not properly hydrated you probably have a low energy level or a chronic health problem that feels perplexing.

It might seem like doctors would embrace a simple, hydration solution, like learning about   structured water and teaching their patients the benefit of it. First and foremost, you have to understand that traditionally trained doctors are the products of cookie-cutter institutionalized learning. Education shouldn’t be a finite process, but unless a doctor is committed to continued learning and innovative thinking, he’s probably going to do the same things he learned in medical school many years ago.

The Paradox of Scientific Innovation

One of the great paradoxes of science, is that even though science is about innovation, it can take many, many years for scientific and medical professionals to embrace new information. Thomas Kuhn was a philosopher that studied how scientific knowledge changes over time. He showed how new scientific knowledge is adopted in incremental paradigm shifts rather than in a linear and continuous way. What that means to you, is that your doctor could be presented with information about the benefits of structured water, but he’s unlikely to say “Great, let’s try that!” He’s going to have to hear about structured water at conferences, read about structured water in medical journals and hear about structured water from colleagues and patients. Then, over time, he might be open to using structured water as a simple health intervention, but it may be years before that happens.

Don’t be discouraged by that information because using and benefitting from structured water doesn’t require your doctor’s permission or any oppressive insurance approvals. And there are doctors that have seen the benefit of structured water and are getting the word out to the public, medical and scientific communities.

But First, Gina Bria

Throughout history, geniuses and forward-thinking professionals have been labeled “crazy” for what they thought or what they did. Until everyone got what Amazon was doing, Jeff Bezos seemed like a mad man. Luckily, there are some prominent doctors and scientists that have seen the benefits of structured water and have been willing to lead the conversation for the public and their peers. You can read about them below, but first, Gina Bria.

Gina Bria is an anthropologist and the founder of the Hydration Foundation and the Hydration Summit. She’s also the author of Quench: Beat Fatigue, Drop Weight and Heal Your Body through the New Science of Optimum Hydration. In her book, Bria debunks popular myths about “getting enough water.” In her book she offers a simple, but revolutionary five-day jump start plan to see results from better hydration almost immediately.

What sets Ms. Bria apart from the doctors listed below is that she is a cultural anthropologist that has been researching food and rituals for more than two decades. She has an impressive  list of partnerships with well-respected academic and medical institutions.

Given that anthropology is the study of what makes us human, Ms. Bria’s work is essentially a mission, to educate humanity about what water actually means to life. She could spend her time doing a lot of different things, but she has answered a calling to present a simple solution to complicated medical conditions that not many people are talking about.

Meet the Doctors

Some of the leading doctors talking about the health benefits of hydration and structured water are: Dr. Ben Edwards, Dr. Christine Northrup, Dr. Gerald Pollack, Dr. Dana Cohen, Dr. Tom Cowan, Dr. Zach Bush, and Dr. Linda Lancaster.

Dr. Ben Edwards

“You have to eat your water, you can’t just drink it. [And} half of hydration is movement...you’ve got to get the water from where it’s sitting in the body, to sprinkle out into all of the peripheries…”

Dr. Ben Edwards is an Integrative (aka Functional) Medical Doctor that owns Veritas Medical Group and is motivated by a true desire to help people get well, instead of just managing medical symptoms. He started his medical career practicing the way he had been taught in medical school and had some powerful realizations about the body’s innate ability to heal, remove the underlying causes of diseases. He adopted the phrase “if you weren’t born with it, it’s curable.” He has many dramatic stories about working with patients that reversed diseases that are usually seen as chronic, ongoing conditions.

His Four Pillars of Health are:

  1. Nutrition
  2. Hydration
  3. Movement
  4. Peacefulness

Dr Christine Northrup

Water is an essential component of every cell in your body. For example, the tissue that makes up your lungs comprises nearly 90% water. Your blood is more than 80% water. And, your brain is approximately 70% water. ...even a 2% drop in optimal hydration can lead to cloudy thinking and fatigue.

Dr. Northrup is a visionary pioneer in women’s health, helping women thrive at any age rather than assuming that quality of life gradually, inevitably declines with age. She’s been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, NBC Nightly News, The View, Rachel Ray, Good Morning America, 20/20 and Dr. Oz. In 2018 she received the first Mind/Body Healing Award and was named one of The 100 Most Trusted People in America by Reader’s Digest.

Dr Gerald Pollack

“What we found we refer to as the fourth phase of water, beyond solid, liquid and vapor. It is not H20, it is actually H302. At this phase, water is potential energy, just like a battery of water.”

Dr Gerald Pollack is an internationally recognized scientist and award-winning author that received the 1st Emoto Peace Prize for his research on water. He’s the recipient of the University of Washington’s highest honor, the Annual Faculty Lecturer Award. He is founding Editor-in-Chief of the research journal WATER and Director of the Institute for Venture Science.

Dr. Dana Cohen

...these small changes can have huge effects and then become a rolling stone into a better direction... {hydration} is the first step before you take on any nutrition plan, on any diet, you need to start here"

Dr. Cohen is the co-author (with Gina Bria) of  Quench: Beat Fatigue, Drop Weight, and Heal Your Body Through the New Science of Optimum Hydration. She’s a speaker, and Integrative Medicine MD that has helped countless individuals that have given up hope improve, recover or completely heal from:

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Hormone Imbalances
  • Infertility
  • Autoimmune Conditions
  • Thyroid Imbalances
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
  • Food Sensitivities
  • Allergies
  • Asthma
  • Menopause
  • Perimenopause
  • High Cholesterol
  • Cardio-metabolic Issues

The heart of her mission is to find the root cause of illnesses through advanced testing and tap into the body’s natural healing mechanisms through supplements, nutrition and a variety of healing therapies.

Dr. Tom Cowan

...Our blood is [like] seawater, but “structured” or vortexed sea water.” Sea water that’s purified, collected and vortexed keeps it stable. Rebalancing the mineral state of water “is one of the fundamental keys to good health.”

Dr. Tom Cowan is a distinguished medical doctor that has served as vice president of the Physicians Association for Anthroposophical Medicine and is a founding board member of the Weston A. Price Foundation™. He has studied and written about  nutrition, anthroposophical medicine and herbal medicine. He is the author of three books: Cancer and the New Biology of Water; Vaccines, Autoimmunity and the Changing Nature of Childhood Illness, and Human Heart, Cosmic Heart. He is the principal author of The Fourfold Path to Healing, is co-author of The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby & Child Care. His work in the Peace Corp was what inspired him to pursue a medical degree. He’s a frequent guest on health-related podcasts.
